In each delightfully chaotic and hilarious episode, two teams of successful drag queens face off to see who can throw the most fabulous themed dinner parties! Each team will be judged on Food &amp; Drink, Design &amp; Decor, and Entertainment &amp; Overall Vibe. It’s a historic send-off to an LGBTQIA+ trailblazer.

This three-season series follows high school student Victor, bright-eyed after a move from rural Texas to Atlanta. Set in the same world as the 2018 film, Love, Simon, the series presents an emotional yet humorous coming-of-age story.

Season 5 of Freeform’s hit series aired earlier this year, so there’s plenty of episodes to enjoy this Pride Month. With plot twists, romance, and LGBTQIA+ representation, it delivers a riveting story while pushing for social justice and queer rights.

Your Ultimate Pride Month Watchlist

In 2014, retired soccer star Thomas Hitzlsperger made international headlines when he told a German newspaper he is gay.
 
Hitzlsperger, who played professionally across Europe from 2001-13 and starred with the German national team, is considered the first prominent German male soccer player to come out.
 
In a recent episode of his digital series The Bicycle Diaries, Spain-based ESPN soccer reporter <a href="https://espnpressroom.com/us/bios/martin-ainstein/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Martin Ainstein</a> interviews Hitzlsperger as they ride along routes <a href="https://twitter.com/ThomasHitz/status/1647302402230329350" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">in Bilbao</a>. In the interview below, Hitzlsperger details how the experience has been for him and how society can improve how LGBTQIA+ athletes are supported.
 
“[Thomas] confirmed something that we were thinking, and it was that it makes a difference to go public and to share,” Ainstein told Front Row. “His goal right now is to be who he is and continue working in the world of football.”
 
Ainstein thinks men’s soccer needs a role model such as Hitzlsperger, <a href="https://www.eurosport.com/football/thomas-hitzlsperger-highlights-dressing-room-challenges-and-lack-of-unity-in-men-s-football-faced-by_sto9624537/story.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">who now works in Germany as an advocate for diversity in sport</a>.
 
Ainstein was inspired to tell “a story that fights for equal rights and speaks about something that has called our attention many times, that in male soccer it was not normalized to come out, or to feel free to do it.”

Across the United States, transgender children are in the zeitgeist, especially as states introduce a record number of bills targeting transgender people's access to school sports, health care, and gender-affirming spaces.
 
But in the midst of the political turmoil, six transgender high school, college and graduate students joined together for a day of conversation and camaraderie with ABC News Correspondent Gio Benitez. Benitez spoke with them about the necessity of gender affirming care.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist and nine-time WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner will partner exclusively with ESPN and Disney Entertainment Television to share her story through various projects on their platforms. A documentary feature from ESPN Films and scripted series development with ABC Signature are in the works. She will also sit down for her first exclusive interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts.
 
“The last two years have been the most harrowing, transformative and illuminating period of my life, and I am grateful to be in a place now to share my story with the world,” said Brittney Griner. “I’m proud to partner with ESPN and Disney to share this very personal story because of its incredible potential to inspire hope around the world and their proven ability to do just that.”

In celebration of Pride Month, The Walt Disney Company, in partnership with the Point Foundation, hosted an immersive virtual event titled "Pride in the Workplace: A Conversation Across Generations." This event brought together LGBTQIA+ professionals from various roles within The Walt Disney Company to share their personal experiences, triumphs and challenges while also navigating their career journeys. Attendees had the unique opportunity to gain valuable insights, By featuring the stories and experiences of LGBTQIA+ professionals, Disney showcased its unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where individuals can thrive authentically.
 
During the event, attendees had the chance to engage with representatives from Disney's LGBTQIA+ community, early career recruiters, and the Point Foundation, a non-profit LGBTQIA+ scholarship foundation, fostering valuable connections and collaboration. Breakout rooms allowed for intimate discussions, enabling attendees to connect with members of Disney's LGBTQIA+ resource groups and early career talent.
 
The event featured a lineup of panelists and speakers, including Keynote speaker, Travis, VP of Talent Acquisition, who has been instrumental for Disney in terms of pipelining the next generation of talent, Kevin, Chief of Staff, who provided insights into the work that Point Foundation does and how in 2023-2024, Disney is supporting a cohort of 10 scholars who will receive critical funding for their education, mentorship, and leadership development. Corey, Manager of Outreach &amp; Engagement, moderated the conversation as Coco, Guest Communications, Remy, Associate Manager of Employee Experience and Advocacy, Araceliz, Software Engineer, Product &amp; Pricing Delivery, and Megan, Associate Software Engineer with IT-Network Operations, shared their personal stories and experiences. The event fostered a sense of community and belonging, promoting a shared understanding and celebration of diversity within the organization.

How can we celebrate Pride Month in a meaningful and impactful way, both as individuals and as an organization?
 
Coco: “For myself, it's just telling your story and being present and making yourself seen. Some aren't always the happiest. But remembering that we can share the LGBTQ joys that we have all experienced and go through is also something that's important, especially with today's climate. Also, not just focusing on the hardships. Although those are important, I want to make sure that I emphasize my triumph. I am a mosaic of a person. It's not just the hard parts, and I am a reflection of those things.”
 
In what ways have your personal experiences as an LGBTQIA+ person informed your work and career path?
 
Remy: “To have some a place that you could look at employee experience, and look at how we're treating our employees, how we how can we make a more authentic place for them. I don't think I would have been able to get there if I hadn't taken the step to come out, and been my authentic self. If you're stuck in the box, or if you aren't your full self, then how are you going to advocate for others? If you can advocate for yourself, you can do it for others.”
 
How do you think the experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community have changed over time?
 
Megan: “It’s amazing to see five, six-year old’s coming out as non-binary. For me, it was amazing when I was a kid to see people like Jazz Jennings coming out as trans. Now it's just that extra evolution, and of course we still have a long way to go, but I definitely think that there has been an improvement, at least in labels. It's a comforting thing to have more labels being in the common knowledge.”
 
How do you think technology has impacted the LGBTQIA+ community and its identity expression, and how has that changed over time?
 
Araceliz: “Because I'm a software engineer, technology has played a huge role in my life. Last year I was flown out by Disney to San Francisco for the Lesbians Who Tech conference and met a ton of queer Disney technologists at the event and that wouldn't have been possible without technology. It's really nice to have that community, even if it's not in your physical location, and I hope a lot of other people can relate to that.”
 
What advice would you give to LGBTQIA+ individuals who are just starting their careers?
 
Corey: “Show up for yourself, but also find that community in your workplace. It is so important, especially at a time where you want to be unapologetic and show up at work as your authentic self. So being around those people that will be supportive, and that will then help you and guide you is something special.”

Celebrating Pride Month with Pride in the Workplace

The Chelsea Challenge in Manhattan is one of the largest inclusive ice hockey tournaments in the country. In a year that has seen increased legislative actions targeting the LGBTQIA+ community and heightened scrutiny around NHL Pride nights, it remains a safe space for all to play.

Many of our cast members and our PRIDE Business Employee Resource Groups (BERGs) have done a wonderful job of collaborating with teams across the company to develop and deliver authentic experiences and offerings to celebrate Pride Month.
 
From the recent announcement of this year’s <a href="https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/05/disney-unveils-new-pride-collection-for-2023/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Disney Pride Collection</a> to the delicious <a href="https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/05/disney-eats-foodie-guide-to-pride-month-2023/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pride Foodie Guide</a> and everything in between—the attention to detail in bringing the magic to life for our guests is truly special.
 
And now for the fun part—I get to share with you my Pride Month favorites! There are so many exciting things happening across our parks to celebrate that it’s hard to pick, but here are my Top 5.

Top 5 Ways to Celebrate Pride Month at Disney Parks

Disney Earns Top Score in Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index 
 
Building on our legacy of workplace inclusion and support for the broader LGBTQIA+ community, The Walt Disney Company received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQIA+ workplace equality. Disney’s efforts in satisfying all the CEI’s criteria earned the designation as an Equity 100 Award winner. Disney first achieved a perfect score in 2007 and has received a 100-percent rating ever since.
 
“Creating workplaces where employees can be their authentic selves is one of our most important aims toward inclusion,” said Tinisha Agramonte, Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “As an avid and long-standing champion of LGBTQIA+ communities, families and fans, Disney continues to deepen our support through emblematic content, community advocacy, and inclusion in the workplace and beyond.”
 
Four central pillars of detailed criteria make up the CEI ratings, including: workforce protections pertaining to sexual orientation and gender identity; inclusive benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families; support for an inclusive culture; and at least five distinct corporate social responsibility initiatives that engage with the broader LGBTQ+ community. Two new elements of criteria were introduced this year, focusing on companies adopting gender transition guidelines with supportive policies and documentation guidance; and workplace policies that provide a safe and affirming experience for transgender and non-binary workers.
 
“For well over two decades, businesses have played an important role in furthering LGBTQ+ equality by centering employee needs and voices when it comes to workplace inclusion. While there is much more work to be done, year-over-year growth in CEI participation is evidence of a business community that recognizes the responsibility and value in upholding equity and inclusion,” said RaShawn “Shawnie” Hawkins, Human Rights Campaign Senior Director of Workplace Equality.

Disney Earns Top Score For LGBTQ+ Workplace Equality

To honor and celebrate Pride Month, ABC News will have month-long coverage highlighting the LGBTQ+ community, including a one-hour primetime special from ABC News Studios’ Emmy® and GLAAD Award-winning series “Soul of a Nation” with “The Freedom to Exist.” “The Freedom to Exist” will take an in-depth look at the transgender community and features a broadcast exclusive interview with Oscar-nominated actor Elliot Page, who bravely came out as transgender in 2020 and was the first openly trans man to appear on the cover of TIME Magazine. With the release of his new book, “Pageboy: A Memoir,” Page discusses his difficult journey to standing in his truth and how he hopes to champion inclusivity in Hollywood. The conversation, which includes audio excerpts from his memoir, also unpacks sexuality and gender identity.
 
The special will report on the state-wide bans across the country and how they are impacting families and conversations in schools; access to books; the banning or restricting drag queens from performing; and gender-affirming care. The special will also cover the LGBTQ+ community and allies, including State Sen. Karen Berg (D-Ky.), who lost her trans son late last year, and those working to protect rights.

• ABC News Live will have LGBTQ+ content across the channel throughout the month of June. On June 19, ABC News Live will debut a half-hour “Soul of the Nation” special featuring Page’s interview. On June 25, the channel will present an unprecedented five-hour anchored “Pride Across America” extravaganza, which will also stream live to all Hulu subscribers. Our goal is to create pathways for these students to become future storytellers.
 
Disney also supports “Out in Tech U,” an eight-week mentorship program for LGBTQIA+ youth aged 17-24 to empower them to pursue opportunities in tech. The goal of the program is to have 80% of mentees land an internship or job in tech within one year of graduating from the program. Several Disney employees have participated in the program themselves, both as mentors and as mentees.

Joshua Rush – Andi Mack
While Joshua Rush can be seen and heard in multiple Disney productions, including Gravity Falls, Family Guy, The Lion Guard, and Star vs. The Forces of Evil, he is best known for his role as Cyrus Goodman on Disney Channel’s Andi Mack. Cyrus was a monumental character in Disney history being the first main character on a Disney show to come out as gay, but the character is also Jewish, becoming a bar mitzvah in Season 2, episode 13 “Cyrus’ Bash-Mitzvah” and inviting his friends to sit shiva for his grandmother (a Jewish mourning practice) in Season 3, episode 8, “One in a Minyan.” Celebrate the range of experiences that Rush provided viewers as Cyrus by streaming Andi Mack on Disney+.
 
Juju Brener – Hocus Pocus 2
Juju Brener is already an accomplished actress at the ripe age of 11! Appearing in a variety of television shows, video games, and short films, Disney fans will recognize her from Disney+’s record-breaking sequel, Hocus Pocus 2! When Hocus Pocus 2 debuted in Fall 2022, it quickly became the most streamed movie in Disney+ history, proving that the Sanderson Sisters are still able to put a spell on viewers. Some of the most memorable scenes in this sinister sequel focus on the young Sanderson Sisters back in 1653 and feature Juju as little Sarah Sanderson. Bringing just as much naivety and humor as Sarah Jessica Parker’s adult version of the character, Juju adorably exemplifies how Sarah has always been a loving and devoted sister with a knack for wicked tricks. Talented stage actor, singer, and production designer Larry Saperstein is well known as Big Red on the hit Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Starting off as Ricky’s drama club-averse best friend, Saperstein brought so much heart to the role that Big Red quickly became a fan favorite. We’ve seen the character go from reluctant tech crew member to a tap-dancing romantic lead and we can’t wait to see what’s next for him in Season 4 of the series. Saperstein brings diversity to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on and off-screen through his Jewish heritage and by being one of many cast members who identify as queer and portray a character who is also queer. Lester is a supremely talented artist (we are still belting “Wondering” from Season 1 in the car) and has moved audiences with her genuine performance as Ashlynn. We’ve followed the character through first romances, gaining confidence and landing the lead in the school play, and coming out in the most recent season of the show. ABC News Live will celebrate Pride Month on Sunday, June 25, with “Pride Across America,” an unprecedented streaming event that spans the entire country, featuring five hours of live coverage from three of the nation’s biggest pride marches. In partnership with Hulu and ABC Owned Television Stations WABC (New York), WLS (Chicago) and KGO (San Francisco), “Pride Across America” will begin June 25 at 11 a.m. EDT with a one-hour pre-show, followed by coverage of the pride marches, featuring special guests, inspiring content and more. ABC News Live celebrated Pride Month on Sunday with "Pride Across America," an unprecedented streaming event that spans the entire country, which featured five hours of live coverage from three of the nation's biggest pride marches.

ESPN Los Angeles-based lead video editor Rachel Pearson understands the power of allyship.
 
Pearson is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and PRIDE Chair of EQUAL, ESPN’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Ally (LGBTQIA+) Business Employee Resource Group (BERG). She has been instrumental in partnering with the company to promote LGBTQIA+ equity and inclusion.
 
Last year, <a href="https://www.espnfrontrow.com/2022/07/espn-equals-spotlight-series-profiles/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pearson filmed her story as a pilot feature that inspired colleagues across the company to share their stories similarly</a> to help ESPN and The Walt Disney Company celebrate Pride Month.
 
“I hope that the Spotlight series we produced last year accomplished a couple of things,” Pearson said. “I hope that it sets an example for other Business Employee Resource Groups regarding the representative content they can create for their membership and beyond. I also hope that the employees that we featured were able to feel seen and heard at work in ways that they never have before.
 
“And the third thing is, I hope that people who heard those stories got to know my community a little bit better, what we go through, what we still go through, the importance of active allyship, and how to know us is to love us. So, I was thrilled to be able to share some of my favorite people with Disney and ESPN.”

“Susie came on board like a tornado as the new VP of espnW, and in one of our very first conversations, we aligned on the impact that the Sports Bra was making, not only in Portland and the West Coast but the entire women’s sports ecosystem,” Pearson said.
 
“And as two queer women, we recognized the platform that we had with ESPN EQUAL during Pride Month and couldn’t wait to reach out to Jenny, also a queer woman, and bring her in to share her story with the people who create content for ESPN.”
 
Reflecting on the motivation behind organizing the employee panel with Nguyen, Pearson said:
 
“Honestly, I’m just a huge fan of Jenny and the Sports Bra’s mission, and I think that spaces like this are the future. The cool thing about the women’s sports universe is that it’s a diverse collective of minority groups that are all reaching out their hands and their resources to build this support system because no one group has enough to build it themselves.
 
“So, I just saw this as an opportunity for ESPN EQUAL to shine a light on one of our own out there, not just thinking about it, but actually doing it and building it and creating real change in this sports industry that we all love so much.”

Meanwhile, Minnesota State Representative and queer mother, Heather Keeler, brings LGBTQIA+ rights to the political forefront despite ongoing death threats.
