Celebrating Hispanic and Latin American Cultures at Disney

By Jule Gamache and Samantha Maurice-Africa

The Walt Disney Company celebrates the vibrancy of Hispanic and Latin American cultures, and honors the unity of the voices, communities, heritage, and traditions woven throughout Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries.

From September 15 through October 15, during the anniversaries of the independence of many Latin American countries, as well as throughout the year, we celebrate the Hispanic and Latin American cultures of our employees, consumers, and fans around the world.

“I am looking forward to watching [The Disney] community come together and celebrate this joyous month. There is so much we have in store for everyone, from insightful conversations with some of our very own Hispanic Latinx leaders to celebrating all our beautiful Hispanic Latinx cultures throughout the month,” shared Janneth Fuerte, analytics and insights analyst, and one of the co-leaders of heritage month celebrations within Disney’s Business Employee Resource Groups (BERGs).

There are numerous ways you can celebrate with us:

• Join Disney familia in celebrating Hispanic and Latin American cultures September 15 through October 15 at Walt Disney World Resort. Meet beloved characters throughout the park such as Mirabel and Bruno from Encanto, Miguel from Coco, and The Three Caballeros. Listen to traditional folk music from Jalisco, Mexico, and move your feet to rhythmic beats with Viva Gaia Street Band.

• Hispanic and Latin American cultures are full of art of all types – paintings, pottery, graphics, film and more. Each country has its own art forms that weave together to form a tapestry of diversity. In honor of the month and available year-round, the Disney Springs Art Walk will welcome TRATOS, a Miami-based Cuban couple, who will live paint their art this September.

• Disney Springs is also home to a variety of Hispanic-owned specialty shops and eateries. From dining at Jaleo by José Andrés and Frontera Cocina to perusing Crystal Arts by Arribas Brothers.
